It was the second straight game, Solanco struggled early against a zone fullcourt press and fell behind 10-0. The same thing happened in a lopsided loss to Garden Spot five days earlier. Garden Spot scored the game's first 10 points and went on to an 81-58 victory over the host Solanco boys basketball team Friday night, January 4.
The Spartans' dynamic guard Keontae Nunn poured in 34 points with 16 coming in the first half and 16 more in the fourth quarter as the visitors pulled away. The Solanco boys basketball team overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime then scored the first eight points of the extra session to nip Conestoga Valley 66-64 Saturday, December 29, in the consolation game of the Solanco Holiday Tournament.
Dawson Kreider tallied a total of 12 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, including a clutch three-pointer with 15 seconds left in regulation. With a 64-46 win in a crossover game with the Donegal Indians, the Mules opened their 2018-19 league season at Mount Joy, on Friday, December 14. Leading 30-25 at the half, Solanco outscored the home team 34-21 in the second half of play to win handily.

The Baron’s Taylor Funk (28 points) and Connor Hostetter (16 points) combined for 44 of the team’s total points in a two-man show. Central held a 32-17 lead at the half. “We did not execute our game plan defensively and did not work to get high percentage shots on offense,” said Solanco head coach Scott Long. “While the loss is frustrating, I was more disappointed that we did not play with confidence and attention to detail." by Bud Hart
